I'm a theoretical linguist specializing in
Comparative Syntax and
Aspect. My NWO-funded PhD project
at Leiden University (2020-2025) is on the interaction of inner and outer aspect from the perspective of VP decomposition, syntactic
cartography and aspectual coercion. My PhD supervisors are
Sjef Barbiers,
Ronny Boogaart and
Rint Sybesma. I
have 3.5 years teaching
experience at university (BA and MA) level.
My research interests—centered around the syntax/semantics interface—include
telicity and argument structure, (parallel) corpus methods in syntax, posture
verbs, quotative constructions, and viewpoint aspect in all shapes and sizes
(progressive, prospective, ingressive, habitual, etc.). I've also
published on pragma-dialectic argumentation
theory. Languages I've worked on are Dutch, Mandarin
Chinese, pre-Tang Chinese, Afrikaans, German and English.
